December 24, 1959, off the coast of Grand Bahama Island, the Gulflube rescued two men and their German Shepherd from their badly damaged power boat. Due to high seas, the Gulflube had to leave behind a burro, which was later picked up by the Coast Guard, and was in good condition.
Shown here aboard the Gulflube, kneeling, the rescued boaters, Nelson Shaw, "Prince" the 6 month old dog, and Don Wallace. Standing are principal seamen responsible for the rescue, Charlie Keohokapu, Thomas Smith, and Anthony
